Course Learning Outcomes
LO1 Experimentation and Iteration: The student experiments with multiple visual possibilities using various starting points to generate formal, technical and conceptual photographic solutions.
LO2 Technical Command: The student demonstrates a technical command of the varied capabilities of their camera and the post-processing editing programs. Finalized photographs demonstrate care, intention and attention to detail in the shot and in post-processing.
LO3 Communicate and respond: The student can think, speak and write critically about the photographic works of their own and others using art specific language-analyzing thematic, formal and contextual aspects and how they integrate to construct meaning and purpose. The student contributes in class critique, offering constructive feedback to peers and articulates ideas and intentions behind their work.
LO4 Documentation: The student keeps a detailed record of their creative process: documenting both process and finished work(s) and understanding how to better exhibit their work to a wider audience. All assignments are documented in full on their online portfolio.
LO5 Research: The student seeks outside references in the photography/art world and beyond, and uses their research to inform and further the development of their own photography and make connections to conceptual, cultural and historical contexts. Student develops a personally driven investigation, a theme-based route of study and a series of driving questions from which their photographic work stems.
LO6 Inquiry: The student develops a personally driven investigation, a theme-based route of study and a series of driving questions from which their photographic work stems.
LO7 Body of work and Portfolio: The student creates a body of photography that demonstrates the effective use and application of different techniques and coherence between theme, concept and imagery. This body of work responds to feedback, reflects an authentic problem-solving process, and represents their line of inquiry to build a strong and meaningful photography portfolio.
LO8 Ownership: The student consistently demonstrates initiative, personal responsibility and a commitment to learning. The student has the ability to reflect on their learning and progress, as well as manage their time efficiently both in and out of class. The student demonstrates a commitment to further their growth as an artist and photographer.
